A recent posting on Ubisoft’s news site appears to have prematurely unveiled that FX is developing a television adaptation of the popular Far Cry video game series. The page has since been removed, redirecting visitors to Ubisoft’s general news hub, but not before eager fans on Reddit captured and shared the details.

The leaked announcement suggests the series will be an “anthology drama,” with each season unfolding in a unique setting and featuring a fresh cast, mirroring the game’s standalone narrative style. The project is reportedly a collaboration between Rob Mac, the creative mind behind It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, known for Fargo and Legion on FX. According to the post, Hawley will take the helm as showrunner and executive producer alongside Mac. Multiple production houses, including Ubisoft Film & Television—already working on adaptations like Assassin’s Creed and Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell—are said to be involved.
While FX has yet to confirm the news, the involvement of such a talented team hints at a potential blockbuster. The success of recent game-to-TV hits like Fallout and The Last of Us shows a growing appetite for these adaptations, and Hawley’s knack for blending dark humor with intense storytelling could perfectly suit Far Cry’s wild vibe.
